Whilst I cannot remember the exact date or time I would be pretty sure that there would be a record of it in the archives of Coventry Airport of the cessation of training flights.

I live about two miles from the airport which now has extensive aero traffic, but in the seventies there was an extended period when it was used for training pilots in night landing and flying, but after local protests this was stopped.

On the very last flying evening it went on all night until some silly hour possibly 2.00am. I could not sleep and got up in the end and went into my front garden and just watched the planes going around and around.

Eventually it ceased and as I was then very much awake I studied the sky which was one of those crystal clear nights when everything was so crisp. I had been studying an extremely bright light overhead and tried to work out what it was as it was the brightest point in the sky when I shortly saw another bright point of light traversing the sky from the western horizon in an arc, it was travelling at a constant speed taking about ten minutes to arrive overhead. For a split second it merged with the bright light that had been stationary overhead, then, travelled west whilst the previous point of light moved off in an easterly direction - I have no idea of their altitude and they did not change in intensity being the two most brilliant objects in the sky. They were both silent.

I have never reported it to anyone but found it very strange as it did not fit any sensible pattern of aerial phenomena that I knew.

“I was standing on the seafront at Blackpool which is situated in the North West of England. The time was approximately 14.00hrs. The weather was fine and dry with bright sunshine and a slight breeze. I was enjoying the view out to sea when I noticed an ‘Object’ traversing from my left hand side, the object had the following characteristics. Shape - Cylindrical, Length of Object- 40 feet, Diameter of Object- 4 feet Distance to Object -1000 yards, Height above Sea Level - 300 feet Colour – Dark grey/black. No reflections off surface I could not distinguish any other features from my distance.

The Object reminded me of the long advertising banners which can be dragged along behind a light aircraft, however there was no aircraft pulling the object. I hear no noise and saw no signs of propulsion

The cylinder shaped object took about twenty seconds to move across my field of vision. It travelled at a steady speed , which I would estimate at about 50m.p.h. It stayed at the same height. I lost sight of it because of distance. I am certain that the object was not a plane, boat, kite, weather balloon or flock of birds.

I have no idea what the object could have been. I have heard no reports of any other witnesses.

Along with the above sighting came this one which was interesting.

BR and partner own a Hotel along the sea front at Blackpool. On this particular day they were on their way back from the Grocery shopping getting ready for guests to arrive. We tracked the same UFO the eyewitness has described and we watched until it vanished as we pulled into the front car park at our Hotel. Ms BR has written to the BBC before about what we saw and have had a number of sightings since 2001 especially over “Fleetwood” way.

To us it looked like a rocket being launched skyward, but it didn’t travel as fast as a rocket would be expected to travel. It was silver in some of the light. She did call the Police and they knew nothing about it or knew of no weather rocket or balloon etc., to be launched.

Place:Ombersley, Worcs., Time: 20.00hrs

A elderly Mrs IB was out walking down a lane in Ombersley. It was a very pleasant day. There were trees lining one side of the lane and at the bottom end of the lane there were houses on one side and open fields on the other side. It is a pretty rural area, with no specific land marks. Mrs IB then noticed a round solid object. “It was a rotating light, almost like a rotating mirror – light – then no light- repeated”. The object did not emit or release anything and she could hear no noise. She stated “It travelled towards me with Jerking Movements then stopped about 60 feet in front of me”.

The general weather conditions at the time were very still, warm and dry – but dull.

Mrs IB states “It’s very difficult to produce a sketch of a circle in the sky. All I can say is that the first glimpse I had it was about the size of a tennis ball and got larger as it got closer. When it was stationary it was about 4feet in circumference and just above the roof top height. I am sorry I cannot be more precise but it was a while back even though it is still very clear in my mind”.

Ms DS has sent us some unusual happenings in her life – this is the first one.

The first time I saw a space ship I was 13 years old. I was standing on the porch talking with my friend Jill and the young boy from next door Robert. I first saw it as a very bright star over the top of some houses coming from the East and it just hung in the air. It turned at a 90º angle and continued in a southern direction. I ran towards it, got underneath it and looked up. I felt as though beings inside were looking at me. I was with 2 other friends, 1 male and 1 female. The UFO was going towards some low-lying hills and I decided to head back home as I was babysitting my 2 sisters and brother as my parents were out. I didn’t feel scared but I thought it was eerie and everywhere was so soundless, I couldn’t hear the birds or anything.

After that sighting I have seen other UFOs as bright lights zooming past my bedroom window at high speed. I have got used to seeing them now.

This lady has had several encounters and takes all sightings as a matter of course now.

Place:Moreton in Marsh, Glos., Time: evening

An elderly Mr. JMT has reported seeing 3 objects (1 + 2) which were points of light. The basic shape appeared round like a bright star/planet. There were 4 witnesses 2 men and two women and they could clearly define the edges of the object(s) as they were sighted.

Mr. JMT was of the opinion that it could have been a planet as he reported the sighting to the Police who were “not interested”. The object appeared to travel in a Westerly direction he then noticed with his party that there were two smaller object above the large round object – he thought later that maybe this was probably the International Space Station.
